Domain Names
A domain name is a name identifying a website. The registration process of domain names is formal and domain names are registered on a first come, first served basis, which means that no substantial examination is carried out. Depending on the nature of the top level domain (either a generic TLD or a country code TLD), the application to register a domain name can be forwarded to a registrar associated with ICANN or a national organisation.
In the field of domain names, we:
- consult on the registration process of domain names, including the selection of domain names in order to prevent infringements;
- advise owners of infringed rights in cybersquatting, typosquatting and other cases;
- represent clients in disputes related to the registration of domain names at courts and alternative domain dispute resolution bodies.
